My Big Vocabulary Adventure

Wow, you'll never believe the crazy dream I had last night! It

was all about the new vocabulary words we learned on page 17

of our English textbooks. I know, I know, vocabulary words don't

sound very exciting. But in my dream, they came to life in the

most incredible way!

It all started when I opened up my textbook to that page

before going to bed. I was trying my best to memorize the words

and their meanings, but it was a real struggle. "Ugh, this is so

boring," I complained out loud. "I wish these stupid words were

more interesting."

Well, be careful what you wish for! The next thing I knew, the

words started leaping off the page, taking on a life of their own

right before my very eyes. It was like magic!

holding a bunch of test tubes. "Allow me to elaborate," he said in

a nasally voice. "That means to explain more about something.

Like how I could elaborate on the properties of these chemical

compounds!" He started rambling on about molecules and

reactions, but I tuned him out.

"Whoa, this is getting too weird," I said, shaking my head.

But the words kept coming!

A group of activists with signs and bullhorns suddenly filled

my room, chanting, "Human rights! Human rights!" One of them

turned to me and declared, "We're fighting for the inalienable

rights that all people deserve - rights that can't be taken away,
