Fracture control offshore pipelines

Objective:to develop a methodology for design against fracture

and plastic collapse, in particular in the post-yielding

range

Sponsors: Statoil, (Shell, Norsk Hydro, BP and Agip)

Project Management : Sintef

Motivation:New design opens for higher buckling capacity and the

limiting capacity will more often be the fracture

capacity.

Deliverables: Design methodology for design against fracture and

plastic collapse:

–Suitable for including calibrated partial safety factors

–Compatible with current design standards

–Compatible with other failure modes

The methodology will include the effect of biaxial

loadinging
