上周和家人一起外出旅游的英语作文

Last Week's Family Trip

Last week, my family and I went on a super fun trip! We left

early on Saturday morning and packed up the car with all our

suitcases, snacks, games, and pillows. My little brother Josh was

really excited because it was his first big road trip. He kept asking

"Are we there yet?" over and over until my parents told him to

stop.

After driving for what felt like forever, we finally arrived at

our destination - the Grand Canyon! I had never been there

before, but I had seen pictures and it looked amazing. When we

got out of the car, the first thing I noticed was how big and deep

the canyon was. It seemed to stretch on forever in every direction.

The layers of red and orange rock were so pretty.

We stayed at a hotel right on the rim of the canyon. From

our room, we had an incredible view looking out over the giant

hole in the ground. That night for dinner, we had a cookout at a

campsite near the canyon's edge. We roasted hot dogs and

made s'mores over the fire. Sitting under the stars in that

peaceful environment was really special.

The next day, we woke up bright and early to watch the

sunrise over the canyon. It was breathtaking to see the colors

change as the sun came up. The rocks almost seemed to be

glowing. After the sunrise, we hiked part of the way down into

the canyon on one of the hiking trails. It was a pretty steep hike,

but the views along the way made it worth it. We saw lots of

interesting plants and rocks that I had never seen before.

On our way back up from the hike, I got really tired and my

parents had to take turns giving me piggyback rides. When we

got back to the rim, we were totally spent but felt so

accomplished for doing that big hike. We refueled with a picnic

lunch, then spent the afternoon walking along the rim trail and

taking tons of pictures from all the different viewpoints.

That night, we went to a show at the visitor's center all about

the history and geology of the Grand Canyon. I learned that the

Colorado River formed the canyon by slowly cutting through the

rocks over millions of years. The presenter did some fun

demonstrations with different types of rocks too. After the show,

we watched a ranger talk about the plants and animals that live

in and around the canyon.

On our last day there, we decided to take it easy and just

enjoy being in such a peaceful, beautiful place. We drove along

the rim stopping at various overlooks and just soaking it all in.

For our final night, my dad barbecued burgers and we had a

picnic dinner while watching the sunset. The way the oranges

and reds reflected off the canyon walls as the sun went down was

just incredible.

Leaving the Grand Canyon the next morning was really hard.

On our drive home, we talked about all our favorite parts of the

trip. Josh said his favorite was the s'mores and I agreed those

were super tasty, but I think my favorite was watching both the

sunrise and sunset over the canyon. It was just so beautiful and

special to experience that with my family.

We took a slightly different route home which went through

the desert and past these cool rock formations. Every once in a

while, I would see a lizard scurry across the road. We also drove

through a couple of small towns that looked liked gems from the

Old West with their rustic buildings and tumbleweed rolling

down the streets.

Finally, we made it back home after our awesome family

adventure. I was really tired from all the traveling and activities,

but so happy we got to make those incredible memories

together. My parents said we'll definitely have to go back to the

Grand Canyon again someday since there's so much more to

explore and experience there. I can't wait for our next big family

trip!
