Guangzhou Uprising martyrs cemetery, located at No. 92, Zhongshan Second Road,

Guangzhou, covers an area of 180000 square meters. It is a memorial park built in 1954

to commemorate the martyrs who died in the Guangzhou uprising led by the Communist

Party of China on December 11, 1927.

On December 11, 1927, the Guangzhou uprising led by zhangtailei, Secretary of the

Guangdong provincial Party committee of the Communist Party of China, failed after

three days of heroic fighting. The enemy massacred more than 5700 uprising soldiers

and civilians in Guangzhou, and some of the martyrs' remains were buried in

Honghuagang. The Guangzhou Uprising, the Nanchang Uprising and the Autumn

Harvest Uprising are the great beginnings of the CPC's independent leadership of the

revolutionary war and the establishment of the people's army, and have written a

glorious chapter in the history of the Chinese revolution.

In July, 1962, it was identified as a provincial key cultural relics protection unit by the

Guangdong Provincial People's Congress; In october1986, it was approved by the State

Council as the national key martyr memorial building protection unit; In 1996, it was

listed as the national patriotism education base, and in 1997, it was listed as the national

patriotism education demonstration base for primary and secondary school students; It

is one of the 100 classic tourist attractions of the national red tour, a provincial key

cultural relics protection unit, and has been rated as one of the "top ten tourist

attractions" in Guangzhou by the municipal Party committee, the municipal government

and the Municipal Office of spiritual civilization.

广州起义烈士陵园，位于广州市中山二路92号，占地18万平方米，是解放后为纪念1927

年12月11日中国共产党领导的广州起义牺牲的烈士于1954年修建的纪念性公园。

1927年12月11日，由中国共产党广东省委书记张太雷领导的广州起义，经过了3天英勇

战斗后失败了。敌人在广州屠杀了起义军民5700余人，部分烈士遗骸丛葬于红花岗。广州起义

和南昌起义、秋收起义是中国共产党单独领导革命战争和创建人民军队的伟大开端，在中国革

命史上谱写了光辉的篇章。

1962年7月被广东省人大会确定为省级重点文物保护单位;1986年10月，经国务院批准

为全国重点烈士纪念建筑物保护单位;1996年列为全国爱国主义教育基地，1997年被列为全国

中小学生爱国主义教育示范基地;是全国红色之旅百个经典旅游景区之一、省级重点文物保护单

位、曾被市委、市政府、市精神文明办评为广州市"十佳旅游景点"之一。
