schools start the reuse of textbooks now. With the reuse of textbooks, a considerable amount of

paper and trees will be saved. At the same time, the pollutant produced in paper-making will be

reduced. Families and governments will also benefit as it brings down expenditure on school

textbooks. Just as every coin has two sides, some problems may also come up in the reuse of

textbooks. First, there seems to be no guarantee that the books are not damaged and are kept clean

enough for reuse. Second it may cause inconvenience because students are not allowed to make

notes on the books. Last but not least, some textbooks are not valid for reuse due to teaching

preferences or the amendment of syllabus. I always believe it is a great idea to reuse the

textbooks on campus. I am also sure it is not that difficult to solve the problems mentioned above.

For example, to protect the books and keep them clean, students can be taught to cover the new

textbooks with paper and form good habits of washing hands before using the books. Part 2

1. 越来越多大学生使用信用卡,信用卡的优点 2. 信用卡的弊端 3. 我的看法 Credit Cards

More and more people including college students choose to pay with credit cards nowadays. A

credit card is much more convenient to carry around compared with cash and can allow you to buy

things online. With credit cards, paying has never been easier. But it’s not all advantages when

it comes to using credit cards. Credit cards, with the purchasing freedom they would give you, can

compel you to spend more than what your budget would allow. This can have disastrous results,

because you might end up paying for your credit card bills the rest of your life if you don’t

manage to keep that spending habit in check. In my opinion, before deciding to use a credit card,

we should weight its pros and cons. The credit cards are weapons that can be used for a bountiful

existence or a tragic fate. It all depends on how you wield the sword. Part3 1. 越来越多的人

Surgery Appearance was once regarded as something we were born with and fixed. However, it

is a different story now. Thanks to the advanced medical technology, 2012年6月大学英语四级

真题详解2012年6月真题详...2012年6月真题详... 2 people are able to change their

original face or other body parts, and plastic surgery now enjoys great popularity around the world.

People take plastic surgery for different reasons. Some spend a great deal of money on the plastic

surgery because they dream of becoming a film or TV star but they are not beautiful by birth.

Some, however, have to take the surgery because of certain birth defects, such as harelip and

lameness, and injuries in accidents. There emerges a new group nowadays –college fresh female

grads who insist that a beauty will land a job much more easily. In my view, it’s not that

necessary that people try to beautify themselves. What we should bear in mind is that being

natural is being beautiful. What’s more, people should judge others by their capacity instead of

their appearance. Part4 1.许多人在旅游的同时对环境造成了一定程度的破坏 2.提出一些

措施减少对环境的破坏 3.说明你个人是如何做的 How to Become an Environment-friendly

Visitor With the development of economy and the improvement of living quality, more and more

people choose to travel at their own expense. Meanwhile, this sort of tour has had a negative

impact on the environment, and tourists often cause environmental problems, such as the litter

seen everywhere and the scribbles on the walls. To preserve the natural environment, necessary

measures should be taken. First of all, efforts should be made to explore tourist programs in a

scientific manner. Tourism should not be developed at the expense of natural resources. Those

programs which would bring about irreversible and perpetual environmental destruction should be

banned from the very beginning. Furthermore, visitors should be educated to be

environment-friendly and aware of the importance of natural resource preservation. For me, I

always restrain myself from littering trashes everywhere. For example, if I visit a seaside resort

where litter bins are not available, I will prepare a plastic bag beforehand so I can collect the waste

myself. I’m sure that with our efforts, we can enjoy ourselves and at the same time protect the

environment. Part5 1. 目前电视相亲节目很流行 2. 出现这种现象的原因是„. 3. 我对此的

看法 On Blind-date Show Nowadays, the blind-date shows are becoming more and more

popular. Whenever we turn on TV, those incredible scenes of blind-date shows would pop up on

the screen. Many people, from teenagers to the elderly, are so crazy about these shows that they

never miss a single chance to watch these shows. Three reasons would contribute to the

popularity of these blind-date shows. To begin with, there are over 180 million people who remain

single long after they reach the official age for marriage. Moreover, a great number of people

would like to amuse themselves by watching other people dating. Last but not least, more and

more television producers add a couple of attractive elements to cater for the different tastes

3 of the audience. In my view, the government should impose restrictions to these blind-date

shows. Many of these shows advocate money-worship and materialism; quite a few of the guests’

identities are artificial. If these problems are not solved, the misleading effect can be disastrous.

我认为„ Adaption Should Not Go Too Far From the Classics In recent years, many classics,

especially the Four Great Classical Novels, have been being adapted in unreasonable ways. For

example, in a TV series adapted from journey to the west, Monkey King ridiculously falls in love

with an evil sprit. It has gone too far from the original version in which the upright monkey shows

no mercy to any evil sprit. Various reasons account for this phenomenon. Obviously, among

them, readers’ or audiences’ preference plays a critical role. Apart from that, in this market

economy, where there is demand, there is supply. Some playwriters or directors’ catering for

these people’s need also contributes to the continuity of this phenomenon. To curb this

phenomenon, I think two measures should be taken. First, it’s necessary to change the way people

treat classics. We need to make it clear that an adapted version that goes too far from the original

one is not merely disrespect to the author; it also misleads the readers or the audiences. Second,

the concerned authority should check and ban TV series, videos or books that spoof the classics.

Men Dressing Up as Women A19-year-old boy Liu Zhu shot to fame when he dressed, acted and

spoke just like a girl participating in Happy Boys, a talent TV show. Looking away from the TV,

people surprisingly find that men dressing in female clothing are not rate in life too. This new

phenomenon, with no doubt, has stirred up debate in China. Opponents believe it is an example

of social degradation. They worry that, with the popularity of “fake girl” in the media, children’

s aesthetics will be distorted as a result. However, supporters argue that, as long as cross-dressers

are positive toward life and have healthy minds, nobody should criticize them for acting like

women. Cross-dressing shows only individuals’ aesthetic preferences, they say, and it is normal

for an open society to have cross-dressers. Personally speaking, I think we should be tolerant to

men dressing up as women. After all, the way one dresses is a personal choice and also an

individual’s right; it should not be subject to interference from others. Besides, couldn’t we say

these men aren’t courageous and creative people who dare to break traditions?
