英语作文关于自己好习惯和坏习惯

My Good and Bad Habits

Everyone has habits, both good ones and bad ones. Habits

are things we do over and over again, almost without thinking

about it. Some habits can help us, but other habits can hurt us or

get in our way. Today I want to talk about some of my own good

habits and bad habits.

One of my very best habits is brushing my teeth twice a day -

once in the morning after breakfast, and once at night before

going to bed. I've been brushing my teeth this way for as long as

I can remember. My mom and dad started helping me brush my

teeth when I was just a tiny baby, and now it's just something I

do without even having to think about it. Brushing my teeth is

really important for keeping my teeth strong and healthy and

preventing cavities. The dentist is always really happy with how

well I brush!

Another good habit I have is reading books every single day.

I try to read for at least 30 minutes, either just before bed or

sometime after I get home from school. Reading has become

such a habit that I actually feel a little bit strange on those rare

days when I don't get a chance to read at all. I'm a pretty fast

reader, so I can read through a lot of pages in just half an hour.

Reading every day has really helped me become a better reader

and writer. I've learned so many new words and new ideas from

all the books I've read. My parents are proud of me for making

reading a habit.

Unfortunately, I do have some bad habits too. One of my

worst habits is biting my nails. I've been biting my nails for years

and years, ever since I was very little. My parents are always

telling me how bad it is and how I need to stop, but I just can't

seem to break this habit. Sometimes I bite my nails without even

realizing I'm doing it. I've tried lots of things to stop biting like

putting yucky tasting nail polish on my nails or wearing little

plastic covers over my nails, but nothing works for very long.

Biting my nails is an awful, unhealthy habit that I really need to

break.

Another one of my bad habits is staying up too late at night.

I have a habit of losing track of time when I'm reading, playing

video games, or watching TV shows. Before I know it, it's past my

bedtime and I have to rush to get ready for bed. Then I'm tired

and grumpy the next morning at school because I didn't get

enough sleep. Lack of sleep can make it hard for me to pay

attention in class and can give me headaches or stomachaches. I

really need to get into the good habit of better managing my

time at night so I don't go to bed too late.

Most of us probably have a mix of good habits and bad

habits, just like me. The good habits, like brushing my teeth and

reading daily, are things that make me happy, healthy, and

smarter. The bad habits, like nailbiting and staying up late, can

actually cause problems and make things worse for me. That's

why it's so important to keep working on my good habits to

make them stronger, and to also work on breaking those bad

habits that aren't good for me.

Making a habit requires doing something over and over and

over again until it becomes sort of automatic. Breaking a habit is

really hard because those habits are already so ingrained in us.

But I'm going to keep trying my best! I'll keep brushing and

reading because those are excellent habits. And I'll keep trying

different ways to quit nailbiting and get to bed earlier at night.

Maybe I'll try putting bandages on my nails or setting an alarm

to remind me it's bedtime. I'm determined to break those bad

habits because I know it will make me healthier and happier.

Good habits and bad habits can make a big difference, not

just for kids like me but for adults too. Everyone should take a

look at their own habits and figure out which ones are good for

them and which ones they should try to break. The older I get,

the more ingrained my habits will become, so now is a great time

to reinforce the good ones and get rid of the bad ones. I've

already made brushing and reading into habitual parts of my life,

and soon I want nailbiting and staying up late to be just bad

memories, not bad habits. What are your good habits and bad

habits? I encourage you to keep working on yours too!
