Getting Ready to Deploy the Templates

In order to complete the installation of the Oracle VM Templates for Linux x86, is it very important to first locate and

review the installation guide prior to attempting the install itself. The guide can be located and downloaded from this

URL:

/cd/E24902_01/nav/.

Under the Express Installation section, locate “Oracle VM Templates Express Installation Guide for Linux x86-64

(Applications 9.1 / Tools 9.1 Update 4). Click on the HTML Section and the guide will display inside your browser.

Choose the PDF option if you want to save the guide locally for future reference.

Inside the guide, be sure to locate Chapter 2, “Before you Begin the Installation”. A very important process with any

installation for Oracle/Jdedwards EnterpriseOne is to make sure you know the software and hardware requirements.

Please use the Certify tool in MOS to make sure you are compliant with the Minimum Technical Requirements. Also,

review the readme file (available on the software delivery site) for suggested hardware and memory requirements for

the virtual machines. You will learn how to access the readme in the next tutorial.

Another important item to note is the actual hostnames used for the JDE Oracle VM Templates. For the purpose of

these templates, the hostnames cannot be longer than 15 characters for all machines, except for the enterprise server,

which cannot be longer than 13 characters.

One also important note to remember is that the database machine can be implemented either in a Virtual Machine or

you can install the database using the non-virtual database installation method. See the installation guide for more

details on the non-virtual database installation procedures.

Review the overall process flow in the guide to get a thorough understanding of all the procedures involved.

Locate the pre-install worksheet in the installation guide. Print out a copy, and complete the following fields.

Remember, the hostnames can be no longer than 15 characters (13 characters max for EntepriseOne server)

Database Server – hostname and IP Address

EnterpriseOne Server – hostname and IP Address

HML WEB Server – hostname and IP Address

BI Publisher Server – hostname and IP Address

BSSV Mobile Server – hostname and IP Address (this tutorial will not feature the Mobile Server)

AIS Mobile Server – hostname and IP Address (this tutorial will not feature the Mobile Server)

Deployment Server – hostname

Complete the appropriate information for the Network/Routing table.

Net Mask

Gateway

DNS

Domain Name

The final portion of the worksheet is the User account passwords. With this release of the OVM Templates for JD

Edwards EntepriseOne, you will enter the passwords at the time of the configuration process.
