RATIONALEFORDECISION:

Thespecifiedtestsareintendedtodeterminesuitabilityofthemechanismandcontactsofdevicesthat

rotatetoaccommodatereceptacleorientation.

Therotationalendurancetestisbasedonwhatisrequiredforreceptacleswithasimilarfullrotation(360

degree)etestandarotationalcyclingtestaddressconstructionswith

mechanicalstopsthatpreventfullrotation.

The270degreerotationlimitfordeviceswithstopsisintendedtodiscouragetheuserfromforcingfull

20in-lbf(2.26n-m)torquevaluewasderivedfromtheCSAC22.2No.12,SwivelStrength,

6000cyclesofenduranceareconsideredanappropriatenumberof

cyclestoreasonablysimulatethelifeoftheproduct.

Theserequirementsdonotapplytodirectplug-inairfreshenersanddeodorizerswithasecondary

illuminaseproductsthe

testinUL283,Sec.62coverstherotationalbladefeature.
