My Summer Vacation

This summer was the best summer ever! I had so much fun

and did so many exciting things. I can't wait to tell you all about

it.

The summer started off with a bang on the last day of school.

My friend Tommy's mom took us all out for pizza to celebrate

being done with 7th grade. Tommy, Michael, Aidan and I stuffed

ourselves with pepperoni and sausage pizza. We were so hyper

from too much sugar in the sodas that we could barely sit still.

Tommy's mom had to yell at us a few times to calm down. I don't

think any of us heard a word she said though! We were just too

excited that summer was finally here.

The next morning I slept in really late. When I finally woke up,

my mom was vacuuming the hallway outside my bedroom. The

loud noise made me jump out of bed. "Hey! Do you have to do

that right now?" I shouted. She just laughed at me. I guess

parents never really understand how awesome it is to sleep in

during summer.

A few days later, my family went on our annual camping trip

to the mountains. My dad loves setting up the tent and building

the campfire. He makes us all help though, which isn't my

favorite part. I liked when it got dark and we could roast

marshmallows over the fire though. My little sister accidentally

set her marshmallow on fire and it turned into a big flaming ball!

We all cracked up laughing at her. She wasn't too happy about it.

The best part of the camping trip was going hiking every day.

The forest near our campsite had a cool creek running through it.

My brother and I loved walking along the creek, picking up rocks

and tossing them in to make a splash. We also saw a family of

deer one morning while hiking. They just stared at us for a while

and then bounded off into the trees. I tried to follow them but

my dad stopped me because he didn't want us to scare them or

get lost.

When we got back home, I met up with my friends again. We

spent a lot of time riding our bikes around the neighborhood

and going to the pool. My neighborhood pool has a really cool

waterslide that twists around before you drop out of it into the

deep end. I must have gone down that slide a hundred times! My
