My Big Report on How to Learn English Awesomely!

Hi everyone! My name is Tommy and I'm 10 years old. I love

learning English and I've gotten really good at it. My English

teacher says I'm one of the best students she's ever had. A bunch

of my classmates have been asking me for tips on how to get

better at English, so I decided to write up this huge report with all

my best strategies. Get ready to become an English expert like

me!

The most important thing is to PRACTICE, PRACTICE,

PRACTICE! You can't just learn English from books and lessons.

You have to use it as much as you can every single day. Speak it

out loud to yourself or your friends. Write stories and letters in

English. Listen to songs and watch movies/TV shows in English.

The more you use and expose yourself to English, the easier it

will become.

Another really important strategy is to find stuff you enjoy in

English. If you like a certain book series, movie, video game,

sport, or hobby, look for resources about it in English. It's way

more fun to learn from things you're already interested in. I'm

obsessed with Pokémon, so I watch the shows, movies, and play

the games all in English. It makes practicing feel like playtime

instead of boring homework.

Here are some other awesome strategies I use:

• Make vocabulary flashcards or posters for new words and

stick them around your room. Seeing the words every day helps

cement them in your brain.

• Keep an "English Only" time where you aren't allowed to

use your native language, even at home. It forces you to

communicate only in English for a little while.

• Watch kids shows or movies in English, but turn on

subtitles in your native language. It helps you match up the

words you're hearing with ones you already know.

• Change the language settings on your phone, video games,

or computer programs to English. It's a sneaky way to get extra

practice while you do stuff you're already doing anyway.

• Read easier picture books and comics at first, then work

your way up to harder chapter books and novels as your skills

improve.
